1. About These Terms
These Terms and Conditions govern the relationship between Cove & Detail ("we", "us", "our") — an interior design studio operating from 48 Jalan Tun Razak, 50400 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia — and any client ("you", "client") who engages our services or uses our website.
By submitting an enquiry, engaging a service, or continuing to use this website, you indicate your acceptance of these terms. If any part of them is unclear, we welcome you to contact us before proceeding.
2. Our Services
Cove & Detail offers interior design consultancy and project services in Malaysia, primarily within Kuala Lumpur and the Klang Valley. Our current service offering comprises three engagements:
Opening Chapter Consultation — MYR 470
A narrative-driven introductory session including a site visit, written space assessment, and a curated set of design references. Delivered within one week of the session.
Design Manuscript — MYR 3,400
A comprehensive design package covering spatial composition, materials, furniture, lighting, colour, and 3D visualisation. Includes two revision rounds and a contractor specification set. Timeline of 6–10 weeks.
Editorial Execution — MYR 1,800
On-site project coordination through construction and final styling — procurement, trade oversight, quality review, and handover. Duration of 8–16 weeks depending on project scope.
Each engagement is confirmed by written agreement. Scope, deliverables, and timelines will be defined in a project brief issued before work commences.
3. Quotations and Pricing
All prices published on this website are indicative and quoted in Malaysian Ringgit (MYR), inclusive of SST where applicable. Actual fees for your project will be confirmed in writing prior to commencement.
For projects requiring significant travel beyond the Klang Valley, or work on unusually complex or large-scale spaces, supplementary fees may apply. Any such additions will be discussed and agreed upon before they are incurred.
Third-party costs such as furniture, materials, contractors, and specialist trades are not included in our service fees unless explicitly stated in your project brief.
4. Payment Terms
Payment schedules are outlined in each project agreement. As a general guide:
- A deposit of 50% of the agreed service fee is due prior to work commencing.
- The remaining balance is invoiced at the agreed milestone or upon delivery of final materials.
- Invoices are payable within 14 days of issuance.
- Late payments may result in a pause in work until settlement is received.
Deposits are non-refundable once preparatory or site visit work has commenced. Where no preparatory work has begun, we handle cancellation requests with care and on a case-by-case basis.
5. Intellectual Property
All design concepts, drawings, visualisations, material boards, written documents, and creative materials prepared by Cove & Detail remain our intellectual property until full payment has been received.
Upon receipt of full payment, we grant you a non-transferable licence to use the delivered design materials for the specific project described in your agreement. This licence does not extend to resale, redistribution, or application to other properties without our written consent.
We retain the right to photograph completed projects for portfolio and promotional purposes, with reasonable notice and without disruption to the occupants.
6. Client Responsibilities
For a project to proceed smoothly, clients are expected to:
- Provide accurate information about the space, budget, and preferences during the briefing process.
- Make the property available for site visits at agreed times.
- Review and respond to design submissions within a reasonable period — typically two weeks — to avoid delays.
- Obtain any necessary permissions from landlords, management corporations, or local authorities where required.
- Ensure that all third-party contractors arranged independently are adequately insured and authorised.
7. Revisions and Scope Changes
The number of revision rounds included in each service is specified in the project agreement. Revisions requested beyond this allowance, or changes to the agreed scope after work has commenced, may require a revised quotation.
We will always discuss scope adjustments with you openly before any additional cost is applied. Our aim is a process that feels considered and unhurried, not one that accumulates surprises.
8. Cancellation and Project Suspension
Either party may pause or cancel a project by written notice. In the event of client-initiated cancellation after work has commenced, fees for completed work to that point will be due.
Where a project is suspended at our recommendation due to circumstances outside our control — such as access issues, contractor disputes, or unresolved permissions — we will make reasonable efforts to resume once conditions allow.
We do not hold responsibility for delays caused by third-party contractors, suppliers, or local authority processes.
9. Limitation of Liability
Cove & Detail provides design advisory and coordination services. We do not carry structural, architectural, or civil engineering liability. For works requiring licensed professional involvement, we recommend engaging a registered architect or structural engineer where required by Malaysian law.
Our liability for any claim arising from services rendered is limited to the fees paid for the specific service in question. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or speculative losses.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, personal injury, or any matter that cannot lawfully be excluded under Malaysian consumer protection law.
10. Confidentiality
Both parties agree to treat proprietary or sensitive information shared during the project with appropriate discretion. We will not disclose details of your home, lifestyle, or property to third parties except as required to deliver the agreed services (for example, communicating your specifications to a contractor).
Project photography and portfolio use is subject to the provisions in Section 5 above.
11. Website Use
This website is provided for general information about Cove & Detail and its services. While we endeavour to keep content current, we do not warrant the completeness or accuracy of information at any given time. Prices, availability, and portfolio content are subject to change.
Unauthorised reproduction of content from this website — including text, images, and design materials — is not permitted without our written consent.
12. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any dispute arising from these terms or from a service engagement will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia.
We encourage clients to contact us directly in the first instance to resolve any concern, as most matters are best addressed through open conversation.
